the day of the green

The reading at the Sidney and Gertrude Zack Gallery was fun. I wrote four poems to the exhibit. I had about three days to work on them. Here I am reading at the gallery on Dec. 13, 2012.

One of the poems wanted to be about McLellan Park that is in danger of being sold for private development by Langley Council. Here is a previous post on the issue and on the Han Shan Project that Susan McCaslin started in order to lend support and bring more publicity to a place that should be protected not sold.
At the exhibit there were three panels titled the day of the yellow, the day of the red, and the day of the blue. So my poem begins with a painting that was not there. And where is the day of the green?…
The good news is that instead of making a decision on the 17th of December, Langley Council has postponed their decision till January 21st. So a little reprieve.
Here is some more media coverage.
