best of the net 2009

Posted by Daniela Elza on May 21 2010

What a pleasant surprise to find that my poem Savannah Rain, West Africa (published last year in One Ghana, One Voice) is selected as a finalist in the Best of the Net 2009.

Thanks Rob and the OGOV team. And thanks to the judges for the 2009 Best of the Net Anthology.

In their About statement Sundress Publications says:

“This project works to promote the diverse and growing collection of voices that are choosing to publish their work online, a venue that still sees little respect from such yearly anthologies as the Pushcart and Best American series. This collection will hopefully help to bring more respect to an innovative and continually expanding medium.”

I am always excited when something of mine goes up on the web. I do not think the competition is any less serious. You can get as many rejections from web publication as you can get from print publication. The advantage of this net, web, we are weaving is that it then becomes possible for me to share with friends all over the world. My work is just a click away for them. That can only be good for poetry.
