Summer Love At This Year’s Literary Café in Harrison Hot Springs

Anne Russell wrote a piece in the Chilliwack Today “Valley Arts: Summer Love At This Year’s Literary Café – Harrison Festival

It speaks of the upcoming event Literary Arts Café at the Harrison Festival of the Arts this year at which I will perform along side poets Trevor Carolan, Robert Martens, and musician Franklyn Currie and his band.

Here is a quote:

The evening commences on Monday, July 11 at 7:30 pm in the mountain lake splendour of Harrison Hot Springs. Doors open at 7:15 pm at the Harrison Memorial Hall. Join Cheryl Isaac, master of ceremonies and director of Continuing Studies at the University of the Fraser Valley, in celebrating a rich harvest of top-flight Pacific Coast literary and music artists.
“We’ll be presenting poetry, songs and music that ranges from down-home to downtown, local and cosmopolitan,” notes Carolan. “Daniela will sing at least one of her works, a wedding celebration poem, in a beautifully haunting Bulgarian style and I’ll read at least one of my poems in Gaelic; maybe sing a little blues poem from New York in there too. Robert Martens was raised in Yarrow and he’s as local to the valley as blueberry cobbler and Jubilee sweet-corn.”
The artist will address the theme of summer love in its many manifestations.

I have really enjoyed working on performances of this nature where there is a combination of poetry and music and song. We did an hour long show at the Harmony Arts Festival last year. And a half hour one at the Beltane Celebration this year.
Tickets for the Literary Café are $12 at the door. They can also be ordered at 796-3664.

Trevor Carolan will also be reading with Twisted Poets the first Thursday in July, (July 7) at the Prop house café. I will be co-hosting that night as well.
