reading the dead poets

Posted by Daniela Elza on Jul 09 2012

Yesterday was the latest instalment of the Dead Poets Reading Series.

There was a crowd of at least 25 people. I did not count but seemed like there were more than that.
Here I am closing the reading with my presentation on Wisława Szymborska.

Here are the whole gang o five readers:

Here are the poets read and the order they were read in.

  • Ted Hughes (1930 – 1998), read by Kate Braid
  • Bronwen Wallace (1945 – 1989), read by Hal Wake
  • Octavio Paz (1914 – 1998), read by George McWhirter
  • Alden Nowlan (1933 – 1983), read by Ken Klonsky
  • WisÅ‚awa Szymborska (1923 – 2012), read by Daniela Elza

It was a lovely afternoon of lively readings. This is shaping up to be an enjoyable series of revisiting poets and candidly speaking and reading them outside of the strictures of university and classrooms where sometimes so much seems so contrived.
